The opportunity with NRC Building on our continued success, we are looking for an experienced professional to join our team as a Civil Engineering Lead based in Sacramento California. You will work under the general direction of the Director of Rail Engineering and will provide specialist technical knowledge to support the development of high-speed rail systems' technical requirements in compliance with statute, system design, national and international standards, and best industry practice. High speed systems include track, Automatic Train Control systems, traction electrification, telecommunications, rail systems and any other system or infrastructure required for the safe and efficient performance of the CHSR system. The successful candidate doesn’t need to have Rail experience, but experience within civil engineering is essential. The Civil Engineering Lead works in the Rail and Operations Delivery Branch of the California High-Speed Rail Authority's Office of Program Delivery. Key Accountabilities Provide technical assistance to establish and develop scope of work, performance and technical requirements and design criteria for high-speed rail systems described within the High-Speed Rail contracts. Monitor and review the deliverables of the regional teams and contractors to ensure work is being performed in accordance with specifications, drawings, and terms of contract. Provide technical support to the Authority and its strategic partners in ancillary high-speed rail program initiatives and to ensure that the high-speed rail systems interface and integrate with other stakeholder systems. Provide guidance and leadership to rail systems engineering team members. Job Skills, Experience & Qualifications You will have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering and a California Professional Engineer (PE) license is essential. Apply sound engineering practices to develop requirements, specifications, designs, and reports. Provide specialist technical knowledge and guidance, while reviewing and interpreting rail systems technical requirements for compliance with statute, system design, national and international standards, and best industry practice. Demonstrate attention to detail in preparing and reviewing technical work/proposals; Understand and apply novel engineering approaches and concepts. Develop and review designs and technical specifications while developing cost estimates and projections. Ability to work across a multidisciplinary team and communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, stakeholder’s client representatives, as required) and establish relationships at all levels. Desirable Knowledge/experience of the US Class 1 railroad industry and/or international railroad systems. Proficiency and knowledge of office-related computer software applications. Membership of relevant professional body.
